The first episode I worked on dealt with the history of multiple Indigenous American tribes. The accompanying social media carousel sought to show the resilience of many of these tribes by highlighting their creative works of art that they are producing in the face of near total genocide. The color choices were intended to invoke the resurgence of these cultures and tribes. While not over saturated, they are applied to contrast deep blues, emulating the burgeoning growth of Spring. The second set of posts was developed around the indigenous history of Hawai’i. Few Americans understand the conditions surrounding the U.S. seizure of the Hawaiian Islands. It was vital to develop supplemental information that could spark curiosity and show the rich history of the Islands and the Indigenous culture. With this in mind, a brief biographical post was developed on the pivotal personality of Queen Lili’uokalani, the last Queen of Hawai’i. The colors here also reflect the culture and geography of Hawai’i.
